Rosemåling from Telemark

Telemark enjoys a rich history having been bought out from Norway in 1951 and to this day, the Norwegian charm has been maintained and is loved by the members. Small things that add to this charm are rosemåling items – items that are painted in the traditional decorative folk art that originated in the rural valleys of Norway, particularly in the low-land areas such as Telemark and Hallingdal.
The latest items were bought in Norway in Vestfold which is the adjoining county to Telemark. They were painted by a woman who is 80 years old and lives in Telemark who has been painting and selling at fairs for the past 40 years. She was absolutely thrilled to hear that the items where being bought back to Australia and to be displayed in lodges called Telemark. Like so many Norwegians, she did not know that there are ski fields in Australia.
